Thanks Sweta! There wasn't a pivotal moment. I gave myself one year to figure out "what I wanted to be when I grew up". If I hadn't landed something by then, my plan was to apply back to jobs similar to what I'd done for the last decade+.
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't riddled with fear the whole way through. One of my lowest points after Google was getting rejected for a job at Anthropic after the final round. Even with the job I ended up getting, I didn't tell anyone until it felt real.
